Divya Jyoti School began its journey on 4th August 1998 with a humble mission to serve through education. Starting in a rented room at Banda village as Divya Jyoti Seva Sadan, it grew steadily with the support of dedicated missionaries and the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Congregation. The school officially started on 15th June 2000 with just 25 students.

Divya Jyoti School began its journey of service and education with a humble yet inspiring beginning. The foundation of the mission was laid on 4th August 1998, when Fr. Peter Kavumpuram, the Regional Director, blessed a rented room and inaugurated the mission station at Banda in the village of Degve. This centre of service was named Divya Jyoti Seva Sadan, symbolizing a light of hope for the community.
A year later, on 24th June 1999, the mission expanded with the establishment of St. John’s Hostel by Fr. John Kizhakkarukatt, inaugurated by Fr. Moothassery. During the same year, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Congregation joined the mission and began their convent at the station. Their presence brought new life to the community as they opened a nursery and a girls’ hostel, sowing the seeds for a future educational institution.
With growing demand for education in the region, permission to start a formal school was soon obtained. The Education Department stressed the need for a proper building, and with the support of Sangli Mission, a temporary school structure was built. This marked an important step towards establishing a dedicated centre for learning.
On 15th June 2000, Divya Jyoti School officially began functioning with 25 students. What started as a small initiative, with limited space and simple facilities, soon developed into a recognized institution known for its commitment to quality education.
Over the years, Divya Jyoti School has steadily grown in strength, infrastructure, and reputation. Classrooms were added, facilities improved, and a dedicated team of trained teachers joined the mission. The school expanded its academic standards, along with co-curricular and value-based education, ensuring the all-round development of every child.
Today, Divya Jyoti School stands as a beacon of knowledge, service, and moral formation, true to the meaning of its name — a divine light.
